Interac e-Transfer

What is an INTERAC e-Transfer?

If you use online or mobile banking at a participating financial institution, you can send and receive money quickly and easily. Email or text messages carry ONLY the notice while the financial institutions securely transfer the money using existing payment networks. If your financial institution does not yet offer INTERAC e-Transfer, you can still deposit transfers to any bank account in Canada.

How does it work?

To pay your membership through Interac e-Transfer, you first need to be registered for online banking through your financial institution. If you are, then you should be able to send an Interac e-Transfer. Once you log on to your personal banking account, you select Interac e-Transfer from your menu and follow the steps indicated. The bank sends an email to the recipient (ICTA in this case) through its site and we receive our money from you. It really is that easy. It is very safe and completely secure. If possible, please indicate how many teams you are paying for.

Anyone wishing to pay by Interac e-Transfer should send their payment to For security reasons, you will be asked to enter an answer to a question that we will know the answer to. The answer to that question should be ICTA (please enter it as you see it here in red).

Some financial institutions do charge a very small fee to send an Interac e-Transfer. You should get this information from your financial institution. Some helpful links are below. All these financial institutions also address all your safety & security questions.

Q/A Section

1. How do I know this is safe and secure

  • All banks use two layers of security to ensure your transfer arrives safe and sound. You never have to worry about security when sending a transfer, because banks use the established inter-bank fund clearing networks Canadians have trusted for years. Please remember that your e-mail does not carry any financial information, they only carry the notification that a secure payment has been made.

2. Are Interac e-Transfer time sensitive?

  • Yes. Most Interac e-Transfers expire 30 days after they are sent. After 30 days, the recipient will not be able to deposit the funds. Also, the sender will receive an email instructing them to deposit the funds back into their account.

3. What happens if the recipient does not answer the security question correctly?

  • The sender will receive an email notifying them that the recipient failed to answer the security question correctly. The email will also contain instructions for reclaiming and depositing the funds.
